Multi-Station News Workflow Modernisation

Transitioning from Avid to Cloud Editing Without media migration

A multi-station broadcaster needed to reduce operational costs, relocate production operations from high-cost facilities and introduce cloud-based editing workflows across distributed teams, running a major POC.

The organisation retained its existing infrastructure and introduced new capabilities alongside it.

mediaSaaS enabled editorial workflows to operate across both environments while allowing existing media, archives and production systems to remain in place.

mediaSaaS Enterprise X-Change enabled workflows to operate across multiple systems while preserving continuity of existing operations.

Business Outcomes

  • Established a viable transition to cloud editing
  • Preserved existing archive and production investments
  • Reduced migration risk and operational disruption
  • Unified workflows across distributed editorial environments
  • Established a scalable foundation for long-term infrastructure evolution

Federated Archive Discovery Across Legacy Media Collections

Unlocking Archive Value Through AI-Driven Metadata Enrichment

A broadcaster needed to unlock value from existing archive content.

mediaSaaS Real Intelligence™ applied speech-to-text and optical character recognition (OCR) across archive content to automatically enrich existing metadata records.

This enabled production teams to rapidly search, discover and use previously unknown content without manual re-cataloguing or archive migration.

Business Outcomes

  • Increased archive discoverability
  • Improved content reuse opportunities
  • Increased the operational and commercial value of archive content
  • Reduced manual metadata enrichment effort
  • Enabled searchable access across previously inaccessible archives

Contextual Sports Metadata & Live Highlight Generation POC

Accelerating Fast-Turnaround Sports Production

mediaSaaS Real Intelligence™ enabled live production systems to generate real-time editorial detail from live content.

The platform generated metadata markers, suggested highlights and created rough-cut sequences during and immediately after live events, accelerating production turnaround.

Business Outcomes

  • Faster sports highlight creation
  • Reduced manual logging effort
  • Improved live-to-digital turnaround
  • Enhanced metadata for archive and reuse
  • Increased operational efficiency during live production

About Us

The mediaSaaS team have been working with file based broadcast systems since they were first launched in 1996. We’ve seen the evolution of systems & standards, delivered many projects that were ground breaking and learned a lot along the way.

The experience gained over this long period has lead to the development of mediaSaaS, a logical evolution combining both software and implementation to provide a state-of-the-art system that can be delivered quickly, cost-effectively and with minimal risk.

Many broadcasters are stuck with heavily customised systems that are expensive to support and difficult to modify. Its hard to know where to start….start with us and use our experience to guide you.

Alan started his career at the BBC, Channel 4 and Soho Post Production Houses. He has extensive experience over the past 25 years in specifying and delivering file-based systems. As a consultant he spotted the gap in market that led to formation of mediaSaaS. He knows what works and what doesn’t and ensures we stick with the former.
